Many thanks to Fairford WI for their donation of £502 which was raised by their members making and selling face masks within the community. The cheque is being handed to Graham Hewitt by Jean Moulden, Beth Dennis and Judith Butler (Guess who’s who)!

If you wish to make a donation you can do so online through the link on this website's home page or by sending cheques made out to ‘Friends of Fairford’ and posting to Ms Andrena Miles, AMM Bookkeeping and Accountancy, 2nd Floor, 11 High Street, Fairford, Gloucestershire GL7 4AD

The Community Friends’ Covid-19 Support Fund established to provide financial support to local organisations, charities, volunteer groups, families and individuals who have been impacted by Covid-19 remains open for applications.
To date from 41 applications, grants of approximately £46,300 have been made providing financial support to 33 different charities, organisations, families and individuals within our area of benefit.
Please refer to the "Coronavirus Support" section of this website for details of how to apply and the criteria we use to assess applications.

Many thanks to Suzanne and Steve Jones for donating the proceeds of their Fairford Jumble Trail sale to FFLC. The donation is very much appreciated and will help with our ongoing work as Friends in the Community.

It is with regret that the Friends of Fairford & Lechlade Communities’ well-supported Christmas Bazaar will not be taking place this year. This will be a disappointment for all who help and support this great event.

The current environment and social distancing requirements preclude us from fund raising in this traditional way. We thank you for your understanding. Our fund raising activities have been restricted this year, but we will be reminding those who are members of our 100 Club to renew their subscriptions shortly. We really want to increase the number of members, so please look out for details of how to subscribe in the November and December issues of local magazines and thank you for your on going support.

Are you keen to make a difference to the quality of life to many in our community? Do you want to improve the health and social care to those in need? Do you want to get satisfaction from seeing the impact our services have within the local community?

The future is uncertain but it is clear that the health and social care needs of people in our community will continue to grow.

We wish to broaden our existing team of Trustees. We are looking for ‘’new faces’’ who will help to strengthen the leadership, assist with defining the future structure of the charity and provide continuity to ensure our continued success in supporting the care and wellbeing of people who live in Fairford, Lechlade and the surrounding villages.

Our existing Chairman plans to retire in May 2022, after 10 years at the helm and the recruitment of new trustees is an important part of our succession planning to achieve continuity and success.

If you are interested please contact Graham Hewitt for an initial informal chat on 07504 955 358 or email

The names of our existing team of trustees are listed on the Charity Commission’s website.

News and Information Update

During these challenging times, as your local charity we are assisting the great efforts of both Fairford and Lechlade Councils in ensuring the vulnerable and isolated in our communities are supported. We have sent our Nursing team and Patient Transport contact details to all the local village co-ordinators, and our prescription delivery services are continuing, both surgeries have been advised that these are available.

Regrettably as we have already indicated the events planned in April/May have been cancelled: Quiz Night on 21 st April and the House to House 20 April – 3 May.

Our Lechlade Charity Shop is now closed in line with Government rulings.

Your support for our fund raising events is always appreciated. We look forward to re-scheduling events as soon as possible.

Due to the House to House fund raising event being cancelled if you would like to donate please do so via the link on the home page of this website or call our Administrator, Christine Barker on 07767 408409 to arrange how this can be done and we thank you in anticipation of your support.
